Clipboard
Clipboard sharing lets you copy and paste text between the controller and sharer machines during a screen sharing session. Hopp simulates Cmd+C / Cmd+V on macOS and Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V on Windows/Linux on the sharer’s machine.
Paste to Sharer’s computer
Section titled “Paste to Sharer’s computer”To paste text from your computer to the sharer’s machine:
- Copy text on your machine as you normally would.
- Press your local paste shortcut (Cmd+V on macOS, Ctrl+V on Windows/Linux) while viewing the shared screen.
- Your clipboard content is sent to the sharer’s machine and pasted into their focused application.
If the sharer uses a different keyboard configuration, press your local paste shortcut first so the remote machine receives the new clipboard data, then type the remote combination manually.
Copy from Sharer’s computer
Section titled “Copy from Sharer’s computer”To copy text from the sharer’s machine back to your clipboard:
- Press your local copy shortcut (Cmd+C on macOS, Ctrl+C on Windows/Linux) while viewing the shared screen.
- This triggers a copy on the sharer’s machine and sends the clipboard data back to your computer.
If the sharer uses a different keyboard configuration, use your local copy shortcut first to trigger the clipboard sync.
Cross-OS usage
Section titled “Cross-OS usage”When the controller and sharer are on different operating systems, always use your own local OS shortcuts.
For example, if the sharer is on Windows and the controller is on macOS, the controller should use Cmd+C and Cmd+V. This correctly triggers copy and paste on the remote machine and syncs the clipboard.
